Director of Operations at Circle

The Operations Manager will provide day to day operational management of Circle and work with the Chief Executive to provide strategic direction.

The post holder will be line managed by and accountable to the Chief Executive of Circle for the performance of the tasks described below.

Provide leadership, direction and support to staff to enable them to contribute appropriately to the work of Circle
Ensure that staff receive appropriate induction, supervision, appraisal and development to carry out their duties
Ensure staff comply with Circle’s Practice Policies and Procedures
Promote high quality and effective delivery of all Circle’s services which will include regular and direct work with children and vulnerable adults
Maintain and develop excellence and innovation in service delivery
Monitor activity and service outcomes and prepare reports for a range of external stakeholders
Work closely with the Chief Executive to develop relationships with a range of funders, policymakers and other external stakeholders
Positively promote the work of Circle through participating in working groups, conferences and other forums
Assist the Chief Executive with business planning and strategic development
Lead staff in portraying a positive image of Circle
Develop a learning culture that focuses on continuous improvement

A professional qualification in health, education or social work
A recognised qualification in management/leadership
A minimum of 3 years’ experience of managing staff and services in a social care setting
Experience of team leadership including personal development and objective setting
A minimum of 5 years experience of working with children and families
Experience of written skills that could be applied to funding applications and management of grants
Experience of strategic management and stakeholder engagement
A knowledge of the key issues affecting service provision in respect of family support
A knowledge of the key challenges facing the voluntary sector

Ability to:
Effectively promote the work of Circle within and outside the organisation
Supervise and manage staff to ensure high quality service delivery
Effectively plan and deliver high quality services
Manage a demanding workload and meet deadlines
Produce high quality reports for funders and other stakeholders
Develop good working relationships with colleagues, the Board and external stakeholders
Strategic development skills
